Class Projects:

Cover Stitch Plaid Scissor Holder and Pincushion

You will be mad for plaid when you complete this scissor holder and pincushion AND you won’t believe how quickly your serger gets it done. The equation for this plaid is as simple as a multiplication of twos---two thread colors, two serger stitches and two diagonal lines going in opposite directions. Batiste is used as the background for your plaid masterpiece and silk dupioni adds elegance in the piping and backings. Tiny silk satin ribbon bows and ties embellish the plaid with feminine flair.

Madeira Nightgown with Embroidered Tab

The neckline on this nightgown will surprise you! What looks like a checked Peter Pan collar is actually a sweet curve of Madeira framing the neckline and drawing the eye to an embroidered organdy tab embellishment on the front. Lace insertion and edging are gently shaped around the outside edge of the tab creating a tear-drop motif. Victorian bridging interwoven with silk satin ribbon connects the yoke to the gathered white batiste of the skirt while lace edging gives an heirloom finish to the armholes.

Puffing Pillow Sham by Serger

An elegant combination of white and ecru helps this pillow to steal the show wherever it may be placed. Puffing combines with lace edging, Victorian insertion, Victorian beading and serger pintucks to create a serger masterpiece. Ecru silk satin ribbon bows create a finishing touch and keep the pillow insert safely tucked inside.

Technique Class:

Learn everything you ever wanted to know about lace shaping using Martha’s new fold back miter methods and oh sew easy and fast pinless lace shaping. For the sampler, you will use the lovely 100% cotton Victorian batiste and French laces. This class will include everything you wanted to know about wing needle entredeux stitch and pin stitch, and basic heirloom techniques.
